Content Management

At WeMakeWebsites, all our websites are built on top of a powerful Content Management System (CMS) called Drupal. The CMS allows you to edit and maintain your website easily.

Drupal is also known for it's scalability and is used on several high-profile website including Whitehouse.gov, The Economist and MTV Europe.

A Market Leading CMS

We create a custom build of Drupal for each project we make so that your website is as easy to manage as possible. The main functions we'll perform are:

  • Setting up the different types of content you want to display on your website - for example, pages, products, blog posts - so that you can edit them easily.
  • Building the CMS out so that it meets your requirements. For example, if your site needs e-commerce capabilities, or to manage paid membership for your site, or to display submissions an online survey.
  • Search Engine Optimisation configuration, so your content looks as attractive to Google and other search engines as possible.

We're of the opinion that we can build just about anything using Drupal, as it's a generic enough framework to not restrict us whilst providing a solid foundation of an extendable and future-proof site. Some example functionality we've built with Drupal includes:

  • E-commerce capabilities including integrated order fulfillment and stock management software
  • E-mail marketing campaign management
  • Image management, including automatic resizing of images
  • Secure client areas
  • Document library and access control, including per-role access and workflow management
  • Social network building and management, Facebook-like functionality
  • Peer-to-peer marketplaces so that members of a site can sell items, whilst the site owner takes commission
  • Event management

We've applied our proven approach to web design and development to build websites for uses as diverse as hedge fund websites, social networks, data visualisations and art retail e-commerce.

Our CMS fits your Organisation

As part of our service, we offer clients training on the functionality of their website, for example, writing and publishing a blog post, adding a new product for sale on their site, adjusting shipping rates and viewing site traffic reports. However, the administrative backend of Drupal is intuitive enough to be used by non-technical personnel with minimal training.

We can set up various user roles to match the requirements of your organisation. These can vary in sophistication, so that users who require only basic editing functionality will have a very simple interface, whist site adminstrators will have more in-depth functions made visible to them in order to manage more complex aspects of the site.

When logged in as an administrator, there is a menu bar at the top of the web browser that allows you to jump to functions easily. In this example, a new blog post is going to be created:
