Eyestorm wanted a contemporary, simple design for the ES Illustration site to allow the illustrations to be the focal point for prospective buyers. We Make Websites delivered a sleek, predominantly white design that compliments the ES brand and highlights the work for sale.
The nature of the site meant that it was likely contain a large amount of content so being able to navigate to a particular artwork or artist had to be simple and intuitive. We Make Websites provided both text search functionality and a filterable artist directory, to allow users to find what they're looking for quickly and easily.
Eyestorm were keen on visitors being able to see the detail of work, which traditionally is difficult without taking over the whole screen. We Make Websites implemented a magnifying glass feature to allow visitors to easily get up close to each art work without navigating away from the page. A size guide was also developed to give users a idea of how big the work will look on their walls compared to the average sized man.
Working closely with Eyestorm, We Make Websites ensured the buying process was seamless allowing customers to add illustrations to their basket and pay on-site using a variety of payment methods.
Each order has four documents associated with it: an invoice, a letter to the customer congratulating them on their purchase and a certificate to establish the authenticity of the work (this is stamped by Eyestorm prior to dispatch). Additionally, an Order Pick is generated, which is used by warehouse staff to pick the order and record the dispatch details. These documents are generated and updated automatically by the system, reducing the staff overheard required to operate the site.
The warehouse manager has access to a 'Green Light' order screen, which lists orders that have been fully paid for an approved for picking. Each order has an Order Pick document associated with it, which includes the warehouse location of each product, as well as the art work details and quantity required. Once the order has been picked, the edition numbers selected and dispatch confirmation numbers are fed back to the Eyestorm office staff, who can record the information on the system after sending the customer letter, invoices and art work certificates, which concludes the order process.
Orders are easy to manage for administrative staff and the back office interface allows customer enquiries and order amendments to be made easily, without the need for a separate system. Orders can even be created manually from scratch if a phone order is made. Artwork stock levels can also be recorded on the site, which can be configured to not show products if they are out of stock, for example.
